Wisconsin's Voter ID law is among the most strict in the nation, and has disenfranchised as many as 16,800 voters in Dane and Milwaukee counties alone. In response to the passage of this law in 2015, the Dane County NAACP and the League of Women Voters of Dane County formed the Dane County Voter ID coalition. The Coalition seeks to re-enfranchise vulnerable voters via education, partnerships with community groups, and direct services to voters who have difficulty accessing a permissible photo ID. This presentation will discuss the scope of the Voter ID problem, lessons learned by the coalition in their outreach to voters, and the personal stories of voters they've helped.
